Avid tried to improve the product but quickly gave up. There hasn't been any real update in many months as far as I know. Last summer, users were complaining about a lack of support.

Maybe just my own opinion, but it seems like Corel is where old programs go to die.

I went to the Avid site and clicked on the Pinnacle link . . . it took me to Avid Studio.

What I like about Avid Studio is that exists in both iPad and PC forms, and that you can start a project on an iPad and tweak it on your computer. At least that's what it can do in theory...my real life experience hasn't been quite so positive...

Hoping for the best for this product none-the-less.

Yep it is true there have been no updates for well over a year. I have had Pinnacle since version 7 (9 years) and I even tried Avid Studio had potential but just sat one update but it had big flaws. they have Avid Studio for ipad and also great potential but they just cannot get it fixed. SOOOOO now to corel, good luck with that.

I am so glad I switched to Vegas PRO years back

I admit to a certain warm spot in my heart for Pinnacle. When I first started editing videos 8 years ago, I used Pinnacle. Were it not for Pinnacle, I would not have been a Sony Vegas user for the last 7 years and 11 months.

Yeah, me too. But I found a good antacid that took care of it...

My experience parallels yours, both in timing and upgrade path. I went from a disastrous Studio 8/9 nightmare to Sony Screenblast & Vegas. Never looked back.

Pretty funny. Pinnacle was my gateway into video editing at version 8/9 <shudder> when it came bundled with my crummy but trusty first camcorder from Worst Purchase. When someone showed me Vegas 5, I couldn't run away from Pinnacle fast enough.

RIP.
