I am trying to read from AviSynth frameserver files in Vegas5. I setup the .avs file. Then when I try to open it it says it is in an unsupported format.
Digital Fusion and Media Player open it just fine.
You can get the free Wax plugin (from debugmode.com ) to use .avs files in Vegas. Once downloaded and installed search the Wax user guide for info on using .avs scripts.
Thanks to both of you for responding. I tried the VFAPI method. I am unable to produce a simulated avi from any avs script that has has an AVISource or AViFileSource (etc) statement to read in an external avi (the whole point). VFAPIConvEN.exe simply pops up a dialog with some questions marks and the name of the file (real useful). It will produce the mock avi from the example scripts that come with avisynth. But none of those reference external avis.
Anyone have any luck with the converter converting scripts that reference other avis?
On the note of wax. It simply gives me DLL errors after installing (twice). Perhaps it is not engineered to be used as a non-admin user (which make it worhtless to any security-conscious person who would NEVER run their day to day apps as an admin).
I am back to square one. Would be nice if Vegas could simply support opening of .avs files. It seems this issue has been around since at least Vegas 4. Sony, why make it hard for the user? Make this work, please!
I agree with joelaff. It would be great if Vegas could simply open .avs scipts.
How difficult can it be? Even Windows Media Player opens and plays .avs files.
Thank you for pointing out the installation issue, that has been fixed. If you would like to tryout the fixed version (before the next Wax update comes out) please email me 'webmaster at debugmode dot com'. Thanks.
