I'm using Sony Vegas 7 Thread

I'm using Sony Vegas 7. The first thing I notice is at the end of the installation, when I see a new Media Manager v2.2. The next thing I notice is the new Vegas 7 vegas70.exe icon, it's silver but not platinum silver, and it doesn't look as pleasing as the vegas60.exe icon. Already, you can tell I'm a harsh punk.

I go into the program directory, we've got a new program NGenTool.exe. It appears to be an assembly update tool, I get the message All compilation targets are up to date. Could this be some new update manager? That could be neat!

Then my eyes are drawn to vidcap60.exe, because they haven't updated it. I'm a little sad, but I love Vidcap, so I'll live.

Some new *.dll files are present, words like AjaVideo, Decklink, XDCAMExp, and mvd2pro.

I get excited when I see the help file, but it turns out this is nothing, it was Revised December 7, 2005.

I got into FileIO Plugins, and I see something GREAT - qt7plug! Woohoo, we've all been waiting for Quicktime 7 encoding!

I read the release notes, they're dated July 2006. Seems like I've been out of the loop for months now. I feel sad inside, but it quickly passes because it's time to play!

I click register because I like to be legit, and this throws me into a 30 Day demo mode. Wooohoo! Oh geez, the icon is ugly. It asks me about *.veg file types and associating them, bla bla bla YES.

Okay, short of breath, I type this long entry into the forums:

Scale Video to Fit Preview Window !!!
View > Window Layouts !!!
And then I fell inlove with Show Dock Tabs Above Panes!!!

I'm too excited so I click Post Message

You could always render in QT however, no H.264 AVC or AAC options available within QT/Vegas. Youll have to rely on MC or Sony's H.264 AVC codecs in Vegas.

Actually, each time they update the QT plugin, we get significant file-size/compression/qt-codec improvements. Vegas 5 used QT5, so I'm sure there's a pleasant improvement there.

Tried it, wasn't impressed, uninstalled it...

PPro is getting all my video editing time now. I wish it were different, but it seems Adobe really want's its users to utilize a workflow that is quite efficient.

I wish it were different - Guess I'll wait to see what VV8 will have... :-(
