Background Graphics for HDTV

I am using Photoshop CS3 to make a background PSD or jpeg graphics to be used in Vegas 7. The Photoshop HDTV default is 1920 x 1080, 72dpi, RGB 8 bit. Is this going to be OK? I know some pc monitors now are 96 dpi which is kind of confusing me.

Ignore the DPI value completely. It means absolutely nothing when working with video. The only thing that matters is the 1920x1080 pixel size.
