I suggested a long time ago that Sony implemented a sort of export function that would save all your preferences, templates, settings, self made transitions/effects, scripts et cetera to a file. That way you could import those settings whenever you reinstall or need to work on someone elses machine.
Sony gave us the "save layout" function which is nice but it's not all the way. BTW, can you save the layouts to a file? I think AVID can.
To answer your question: I don't know. And I think you've already figured that out by reading my blabbering up there... :) I want to see an answer though.
Grazie and I, and possibly others, are having trouble getting Preset Manager to find all our previously created presets - we probably haven't worked out how to "point" it to the relevant folders for Vegas, Sound Forge or Acid. I assume it should find ALL presets, including Render as settings.
Grazie, I just reformatted myself, and I did find the presets that I had created, saved them to disk, then copied them back into the same folder once I re-installed Vegas....BUT...Vegas still does not see them. I am having to re-create all my presets. I had several text presets I had created that I wanted to save, but they just aren't recognized after re-installation.
I was just at this point a few days ago...trying to back up my presets, even posted questions about it here and on COW. Preset Manager will only back up audio presets as far as I could tell. It would not back up my media generated (text) presets in Vegas 4.0e. Don't know if 5.0 is capable of it or not...but 4.0 wasn't.
Hiyah! - It would appear that the Vegas PM is talking about is the audio parts . . I stress "it would appear" . . I can't confirm or deny this until a Sony tech comes back to us.
Peter Wright was able to PM a FX .. and you are able to collect Presets from Vegas . . .. you can't get them back though .. . .
