Backlit Keyboards--recommendations

I use Vegas and the Sony line of software…

I’m looking into purchasing a new keyboard that features backlit keys, so I can more easily see the keys in darker—editing-suitable room conditions—I know. I know. Get reading glasses….Can some of you suggest such a keyboard that you’re happy with or maybe suggest brands or ones you are NOT happy with? Hopefully there are affordable ones out there….

saitek has a decent KB with backlit keys. it's nice, however you really shouldn't edit in the dark :)

Now if they would only do an ergonomic backlit one. I'm a fan of the Microsoft Natural keyboards, the ones that split in the middle and type for cr*p on a regular one.

I did a research on this topic a few weeks ago and found out Logitech is supposed to be better because each key is actually lit from underneath, as opposed to the Saitek ones that are lit by only a few leds from behind the whole k/b and cause the actual keys to be darker than the space (or gap?) between the keys...

Yeh, I have it narrowed to the The Logitech G11 and the Saitek Eclipse II. Both are excellent choices, and while the lighting factor gives the Logitech a slight edge, I'm leaning to the Eclipse because of its own solid reviews, and it's slightly sturdier, and doesn't take as much real-estate---I don't need all the extra keys and USB ports. I have also discoverd that the keys on the G11 are painted rather than etched (like on the Eclipse II), so over time, the black surrounding the letters will wear off--accordiong to some owners. Whether that's true or not, the bottom line is that both are solid choices.

...you're right about the comments regarding the keys' fading. I read that too...
A friend of mine finally bought the Saitek and he's quite happy with this unit ... and there's 4 colors you can switch as you wish : )
