bad capture

Hi everybody,

What am I doing wrong? I'm getting some bad captures from time to time (a few clips per project -projects around 20-25 clips) what I mean by "bad capture" is the video is not viewable, but has big grey square boxes... here's an example:

I don't "think" my heads are dirty, and it's done this with both my cameras now, and when it does this it's just a few clips at random.

Any insights?

Thanks,

mas

clean the heads. If it's on both camera's, odds are the tape is bad in that spot. Happens with excessive use (better tape = longer until this happens. IE the DVCPro's we used when I was in TV took years of recording & rerecording on top of the tape for that to happen. Consumer MiniDV's can have it happen after ~5/6 recordings).

fair enough. There probably is a 2-3 passes on what I'm using, plus it's an old tape from 2004. The TV I work at never does more than 1 pass!

thanks

we'd did ~1 wipe a week on DVCPro tapes until dead. :D Normally took a couple years! :D
