Bad transitions in VV3 :-(

I dragged about 40 still images into VV3. Then I stretched them so they overlap and applied transition effects to them.

Almost every single tranistion (even cross fades) ends with some sort of "flashing". It is almost as if the two still images are in alternate fields for a few frames. I have tried everything I can to make it go away but it is always there.

If I make the project progressive, it is still there. What good is a slide show mode if the transitions are all annoying and un-usable.

I am having a similar problem but with video not stills. It occurs when using slow motion. I overlap clip B on clip A to form an auto cross-fade. It seems that just as the cross fade begins I get a 1 frame flash of clip B, followed by the cross fade between A and B. I'm using the NTSC DV specs. Also, I don't know if it's important to mention that the same source footage was rendered in Video Factory 2 (prior to upgrade to VV3) and this flash never occurred. Only when I loaded the VF2 project into VV3 and rendered did I notice the flashing. I have yet to solve this issue.

Might be a bug in Vegas 3 with VF 2 projects?
An easy fix might be to just replace the two clips.
If you right click drag the source clip from the explorer window and drop it onto the timeline, it will perform a take and hold the clip properties. Then you'll just have to slip trim to regain the section of the clip you want. Use the Alt key and drag the middle of the clip.
If this doesn't do it, I'd delete the two clips from the timline (reg edit mode), load the reaplacement clips into the trimmer, trim down to a similar length to origianl edits, copy to clipboard, Paste insert (Ctrl+Shift+V) into timline, speed adjust clip, final trim as needed.
Hope that does it for you.

i do slide-shows in VV too. works awesome. unfortunately i can't solve your transition issue, but just a tip to help you put together these slide shows...

if you look in Preferences | Editing...
you can check 'automatically overlap multiple selected media when added'

then set the overlap time depending on how slow you want your transitions. also check out the 'new still image length' setting which determines the time that each picture will be displayed.

then select all your pictures in the explorer window, and drag them all onto the timeline at once. you'll have a ready made slideshow with transitions, based on those settings.

I got the flashing to go away. It turned out to be an interlace issue. By starting a blank project with 720 x 480 progressive scan and 1:1 pixel aspect ratio, dragging in 300 720x480 24 bit "photos" and applying transitions worked just fine.

Now I just wish the VV3 MPEG encoder would let me encode in progressive mode. When I try to do that, I get an "unspecified error".
