I don't know that the Studio version has this. However, you could generate a few seconds of it at school and burn a .avi file to a data CD, then use this file at home.

I assume the "bars" you guys are talking about are color bars, right?

If so, VMS (ver 6 anyway) does have a few color bar selections available in the Media Generators area.

In the same part of the screen where you see your media pool, transitions, effects, etc., locate the tab (along the bottom of the screen) that says "Media Generators". This is the same area where you'll find Text items and Credit Rolls, etc. (I'm not completely sure of the names because I'm not at a computer with VMS installed.) Once you open this tab, look for something called "color bars" or similar. Drag one to your timeline.

As far as tone, I'm not aware of any built-in test tones from within VMS, but you can probably find a .wav file somewhere on the internet (though I haven't tried myself).

Also, the countdown and slate are things you might need to find on the internet, or bring home from school, as Chienworks suggested.

EDIT: Now that I'm home, I see that the color bar media generators are in a category called "Test Patterns".

My VMS6-Plat came with "1,001 sound effects" on CD - I think there are some sample sine-wave and square-wave .wav files in there (at least, I know I have these and I'm fairly sure that's where they came from).
