The free Lightroom Starter plan is now available for Lightroom desktop (Mac and Win). Available only in Australia and New Zealand, new customers can start for free and use core Lightroom features, such as the Sensei-based Auto or the Light and Color editing sliders, without a subscription or trial limits.

This would be good for anybody in AU/NZ currently without any photo editing software. But the Starter plan does seem rather limited in comparison to the relatively inexpensive and well equipped Corel PaintShop Pro 2021 Ultimate - which currently is on offer in AU for $134.00 AUD - and which might be considered to be the budget alternative to PhotoShop.
I can't help but feel that Adobe is using AU/NZ as a trial zone to implement a sales approach to 'introduce' customers into their subscription trap. The free Starter being the teaser and then with an intro offer (low subscription price for the 1st year) to induce customers into the 'hamster' subscription wheel.
