batch-add an FX to multiple events without deleting existing FX chain?

Mindmatter wrote on 9/9/2022, 3:27 AM

Hi all
so I have a larger project with multiple edits and events, all of which have a specific FX chain. I now need to add a specific FX to that chain for all the events. I usually copy selected event attributes and batch paste them to a bunch of events if needed. But in this case, all events already have different FX settings, and pasting an FX usually erases and overwrites the existing chain. So I wonder, is there a way to batch-add just this one FX to multiple events at event level without touching the chain that's already there?

Thanks!

Use Vegasaur - apply fx - you can add your fx before chain/after chain/before pan_crop. Using all the time.

Sounds like just what I need, thanks! I'll give that a try.

@Mindmatter  You can select multiple/all events you want to add the FX to, then drag that FX on to them?

Thanks but that will overwrite existing FX, as I mentioned.

@Mindmatter I just did it & it just added that FX to the existing chain on all events selected?

for some reason, that function does not work in my Vegasaur 4.01. I click on it and no window opens, nothing happens...😐
Thanks Gid, I'll give that another go then.
Edit: Gid, that actually works, thanks for the tip!
Problem in this case is that I need to insert it before the PIP, otherwise it affects the whole size of the frame. Not sure that's possible with this approach. I'll probably have to use Vegasaur if I get it to work.

@Mindmatter There's a good chance I'm misunderstanding your initial post 🤷‍♂️👴🤣

But here I added 5 events, each with 2 different random fx's, I made a selection & dragged on a vignette, that vignette was added to the fx chain on each without affecting the preceding fx's,

Former user wrote on 9/9/2022, 4:43 AM

@Mindmatter Yeah it adds to the end of the chain, I don't know anything about scripting/Vegasaur but yep it sounds like it would need to be a specific command for position placement in the FX chain,

Excalibur will do this as well. Plus, you can write it yourself:

@Mindmatter

You can do this using the Fx Assist tool in HOS.
