Batch capture script

Can a script be written for Vegas' capture utility? If so, is it possible to tell the utility to read an excel spreadsheet with in/out points for batch capture?

No, there is no Script API for the capture utility.

Is this for DV capture or SDI?

For SDI capture, you can import a batch capture list as xml. You can inspect the format by logging a few clips, saving the clip list, and inspecting the file. SDI batch capture lists can also be imported from Premiere.
