If you are not going to "process" the HD in any way you should select "none" in the processing tab since there is no processing to be done. Processing is for batch color correcting, cropping, or other batch processes.

Target Output controls your rendering options. You will want to load your HD footage in the Source tab, leave the Processing tab empty, and select the 720p render template that you want to use in the Target Output tab. Production Assistant will then render all of the FullHD to 720p.

Thanks JR

I was successful

A few more questions arose

1 will my Vegas project properties effect PA output = Interlace, progressive etc?
2 when I add a process “each file individually” I have to check each track and confirm track 1 for each render so I can’t walk away and let PA render unattended?
3 when I select process Vegas opens a new project, I take it PA is taking the current project and making it a new project so does this new project settings interlace etc effect the render?

Yes absolutely. This is why PA asks you to set the project properties before it performs individual file renders. Many people are surprised by this dialog and just dismiss it but PA does not assume that you want to use the current project properties so it prompts you for the project setting to use before it batch renders individual files.

What process are you adding? If you give me the specific steps to recreate the problem I can look at fixing it. We try and ask all questions up front at once so that you can walk away and obviously we missed something if you are getting prompted after each render. :(

Yes, this is the dialog I talked about in my first answer. When you tell PA to process individual files, doesn't assume that you want to use the current project properties so it asks you which properties to use. Then it creates a new project with just that file and runs all of the processes in your list, before rendering it to the output formats you selected.

JR

I have not made a preset in the processing dialog but have left that as ‘none’ I have selected Cine-look on 4 clips and when I process from Target output dialog which I have made a preset 720p
I get prompted each time it renders

I have selected “Process each file individually” as I do not want to render all processed clips as a single clip

OK, I see what's happening. I'm sorry this isn't documented better. You'll see that there are two options in Cine-Looks under Film Look. One to apply To Selected Track(s) and one to apply To Master Bus. When you are working in interactive mode it's OK to use To Selected Track(s) (which is the initial default) but when you are batch processing multiple single files, you should set this to To Master Bus. This will stop it from prompting you for a selected track with each new file. Again, I sorry this isn't clearer in the help file. I have corrected it for the next update.

JR I can see that PA can be a huge time saver and haven’t started using it in production yet as I first want to become familiar with it then use it as part of my everyday workflow
So I am coming in earlier everyday to get to grips with it

Thanks for your help
