I was wondering if anyone had experimented with converting video from a JVC GZ-HD7 to AVCHD format for longer term archiving. I'm trying to figure out a way to batch convert files from our older JVC GZ-HD7 camcorder into AVCHD. There are hundreds of these files as you might expect (everytime the record button is pressed). So automated transcoding would be necessary.

It seems to me that if any format has a chance of become the MP3s of the video realm then it might be AVCHD. So we were contemplating trying to standardize all our HD archives into that format to save space.
