I'm converting a bunch of AVI files to MPEG for a large DVD project, and these conversions are taking a VERY long time. I've played around with the bit rate, but it doesn't seem to have an impact on the time it takes to convert.

I just want to create DVD-compatible files in the shortest amount of time, so I'm looking for settings which can be adjusted which will reduce the conversion time (realizing that I may lose some picture quality, of course).
