Yeah, you can select all of them in your Explorer, hit rename, and put in the new tape name. All will have the new tape name in sequential order.

Just tried this and couldn't get it to work -- I'd renamed the tape name in the capture app, only to hit "cancel" because I hadn't setup a new capture folder. Set the folder up, hit "capture tape" and now all my clips have the default tape name, and not the new one I entered.

Right-clicking and trying to rename my clips in the explorer window only allows me to rename one at a time :(

Ditto the media pool.

I found a cool little utility for free that I use constantly. It is called A.F.5 Rename. It allows you to batch rename with 5 strings, 5 prenamed values or a custom value. It has come in very handy many times.

After Jamenson posted the link I downloaded and installed the tool and I made a quick test. Worked fine.

Well, I have cause to do this ALL the time and have never realized that Windows explorer would do it. Thanks Spot!

Having said that, Windows explorer doesn't give a lot of control. So I usually start by looking for shareware at a site called www.nonags.com. They generally have small stuff for free and I've found many utilities I've liked.

It's not the only place I look but it's definitely one of my favorite resources.
