Batch render

I don't have a DVD-R yet so am putting my movies on SVCD using the TMPGen encoder. I render out of VF as an AVI then use TMPGen to create the mpeg-2 files.

Here's my problem:
The SVCD is limited to about 35 min.
My project is about 50 min.
I would like to render out two avi files. I can do this by rendering the first half and the going back and rendering the second half.

Question:
Is there a way to have VF automatically create two avi files? Like a batch job so I can run these at night? Right now I have to start one file at night and the other the next morning. The result is it takes me 24 hours to render 50 min of video.

Sorry, no. Video Factory only allows one job at a time.

You probably don't want to hear this ... but ... with Vegas you can open up multiple copies of the program at once and have it work on several renders simultaneously.

I may be wrong. But I think you can select an area witht the cursor, like the first half of your project. And render the selected area.

Once done, go back and select the second half and do the same.

Tim: you can certainly do that. However, you must finish rendering the first part before you can start rendering the second. That means either getting up in the middle of the night (believe me, i've set my alarm for 3am many times!) or waiting until the next day.

Sadly, VideoFactory 1.0 did allow multiple renderings simultaneously. This feature was myseriously removed in version 2.0

I find that interesting that they would remove such a nice feature. Too bad...

Call me cynical, but i suspect one of the reasons was because too many people were buying Video Factory instead of Vegas.         ;)
