Veggie Toolkits MultiRender does this. Veggie Toolkit cost some bucks but I think it might be the best render tool available for Vegas and it's really worth the money. If this is a choice - www.peachrock.com .

Yeah - Veggie Toolkits MultiRender - gets my vote as the best bucks (can't remember how much, but very minimal) addition to Vegas, out there. Plus Excalibur for multicamera stuff - invaluable.

I use Multirender to render elements on the day's edits overnight, and also to render out section in MPEG2.

The modifications I made to the original Sony "BatchRender GUI" script were designed, among other things, to do exactly what you want, namely to use the region names as the file names in the render.

You can download it from VASST:

BatchRender GUI

[Edit]

I just looked at that site, and the version of the script is still the Vegas 4 version. Before you run this with Vegas 5 or 6, you need to change the line at the beginning of the script from

import SonicFoundry.Vegas;

to

import Sony.Vegas;

You can do this in Notepad.
