I have had this same problem from time to time as well (I was the one that made minor modifications to this script and posted it at Sundance; I did not, however, write the script).

I believe this is a bug in Vegas. Are you have this problem in Vegas 4.0 or Vegas 5.0?

You can avoid this bug, I believe, by quitting and then re-starting Vegas prior to starting the render.

Sony: It is possible (although I have not attempted to test it) that this is related to the bug that occurs when you use the "JKL" scrubbing keys and then render. In Vegas 4.0. The resulting audio ends up backwards! This was reported here: Sound reversed during render. Several of the forum regulars immediately recognized the problem and said it was caused by using the "J" shuttle key to reverse scrub the timeline. At the time, some jokingly referred to it as a feature, since there was not yet a way to play audio backwards.
