batch rendering selected regions with Vegas

I would like to batch render all selected regions from the timeline. Is this possible? Right now I can only render a highlighted area, but I would like to pre-select a dozen or so clips from the movie event and batch render them for the sake of convenience. I would have thought that creating region markers would permit such a task but it does not seem possible.

I am brand new to this program but come with prior experience in Media 100 and Avid. Reading the sparse manual I see nothing on this but I am hoping that is not the case and that I am just blind to the obvious right now.

I thank everyone in advance for considering my question and for any possible assistance.

Certainly, via scripts. Do a search for scripts that can perform this function (such as Neon (which can perform this function and a whole lot more), BatchRender Pro, or some of the scripts available at Sundance)

Use this script:

BatchGUI script

Make sure you have Net Framework 1.1 installed (you can use the "Windows Update" to access it). Run the script in Vegas. Select a location for your output files. Select what type of format you want to render (e.g., click on the "plus" next to "Video for Windows" and then put a check mark in "NTSC DV"). Then, at the bottom of the box, select "Render Regions." It will create a separate file for each region on your timeline.

Thank you both! I will take a look at Neon, BatchGUI and Batchrender Pro.

I use John Meyer’s BatchGUI script all the time. It’s excellent.

How do you choose file names for saving with your script John?

How do you choose file names for saving with your script John?

First a quick disclaimer: It's not my script. I merely revised it and fixed a bunch of quirks and bugs (not to say that it still doesn't continue to have some of both).

Second, you can create any file name you wish. If you have saved your project, the script merely uses that name as a starting point, but you can easily change that at the top of the dialog box.

If you render regions, one of the modifications I made was to actually use the region names you chose. I also added a number to those names, just to make sure that the file name would be unique (since region names can be identical).
