You can throw them all on a timeline, autocreate regions of them, and render using the Batch script in Vegas 5 or 6, (or even Vegas 4)
But the file names will be modified. I'm unaware of a way to render them using the exact same filename with no append and still use a batching tool. In Vegas, you give the timeline a base filename, and it creates the files, appending 001, 002, etc to them.

Where is the autocreate regions button? On the insert menu I just see regions? Also where is the batch script located? Thanks sorry....newbie.......

The MultiRender tool can do this. Load the project in MultiRender, then set the selection to All Events. This will use the events on the first track as the regions to render and will use the event names.

MultiRender is part of the Veggie Toolkit add-on for Vegas.

Good to know, Randy, I didn't realize you kept the original event names when batching regions.

Well, I have two scripts that will get you pretty close. I just wrote and posted one of them a few days ago. The person was looking for a script that would create regions for each event on the selected timeline, and then name each region with the name of the file that the event's media came from. I wrote it in a hurry, so if you have multiple events that came from the same media, you will have duplicate regions.

Here's the link to the post that contains the script:

Script Request: add regions and event names

The other script is the old Batch Render GUI script that I think was originally written by Sony, but which I modified slightly to make it work better. It is posted over at VASST here:

Batch Render GUI Script

You may need to register to download this script (free registration).

The Batch Render GUI lets you render each region on the timeline to a separate file.

Sounds like you're using a Vegas 4 script in Vegas 6. Look for any lines that contain "SonicFoundry" and change it to "Sony".

thank-you that did the trick

edit : but, hey this looks identical to the supplied Vegas script - ok for some things
I guess I have all I need for now - I got Batchrender Pro for Vegas 6 too
