BD player won't play burned BD disc

Hi Everyone,
I created a BD disc in DVDA (16GB), but neither of my home players will play it. I'm upgrading the firmware on one now, so if that works, I'll repost here, but I was wondering if there's any kind of finalization that I need to do in order to get the disc to play. When I insert it in my PC, it recognizes it and plays it without problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

I assume, since didn't say otherwise, that you used DVD Architect to burn the disc also. You didn't just prepare the disc and use another program (like Nero) to burn the files to your disc.

If so, ensure that you're using a good quality disc. Verbatims are some of the best, as I say in my book. Memorex are about the worst.

Meantime, does the disc play on your computer? That would indicate that the DVD Architect has done its job and has created all the necessary files.

If that's the case, try reducing your disc burn speed. (You can do this in the Select Burn Parameters in DVD Architect.) Make sure it doesn't exceed your disc's rating -- and ideally keep it below 8x. 4x is even better.

Thanks Steve,

I'm using Verbatim discs that are not the LTH ones. My LITE-ON burner might have problems with those and not burn, so Newegg suggested these and reviews have said that they've worked. It burned no problem, and works as expected when inserted into the PC burner drive. My Pioneer BDP-23FD was not able to play it and said that it was an unrecognized disc. The update is still going so I can't tell if that will fix the issue. I hope it does. Oh, yeah, I am using DVDA throughout the process. I made my project in VMS10, used DVDA to put it together and create a menu, the burned it to a file on the hard disk, then to BD disc at x2 speed. I'm created DVDs from this image, though rendered them down to fit on a DVD. Jay

I tried creating my background menu movie in 720p because the help file said that it makes it easier. My next step is to try taking the menu out altogether and see if that burns....I'm just not sure why it won't play on my BD player.

Hi Everyone,
Sorry if I'm spamming this thread, this is just bothering me. I've read many other threads in this forum and other people seem to have had the same issue as me, where the BD disc would play on the PC but not on the home machine. Would using a different burning software (IMGbrn, Ashampoo) be of any use? Is there anything I need to have selected when creating the ISO? This is a project that I've had back and forth between DVD and BluRay so I'm not sure if I missed any configuration settings, or if it's DVDA that is burning it incorrectly. Any help would be appreciated as I go through $2 discs :)

I can't help directly as I don't have a BD burner on my PC. A couple of comments, though.

1/ have you tried other players? I believe that some older players do not play BD-Rs.

2/ It might be worth buying some BD-REs for use while experimenting.

Thanks TOG62, Yeah, I've tried it on both my older, 3 year old player, as well as the one I bought for Christmas last year and updated after the first disc wouldn't work. It still doesn't work there. I'm starting to think that I either need to try a different burning program for burning my ISO from DVDA, or that there is a setting that I'm not seeing when creating my ISO.

I am able to play my burned disc on a Panasonic DMP-65 (I think...it's the current, 65 model) without problems. I will use this to view my burned discs....I am not sure why this player plays them, but I won't update the firmware on it.
