Behringer B- Control w/ Vegas 5?

Arks wrote on 11/29/2004, 2:23 PM
Does anyone have the new behringer B-control USB device that they use with Vegas 5? I know many dont like the audio quality of the Behringer name, but this doesnt have any audio inputs, its jsut a USB controller. I'm thinking of adding this to my Vegas 5 rig. Any stories of this would be great (I am thinking of getting the one with the motorized faders).

I've got it and it works in Mackie control mode. There is a bug though, that I think comes from Vegas since it works fine in Nuendo. The faders will sometimes stop sending values, and only receive them. But apart from that it's a pretty solid controller for the price, highly recommended.

Nat,

How are you using the B-control? I have it, but have not gotten it to work yet (didnt have enough time to dig into it yet). Are you emulating it via the mackie control in vegas?

Yes, the mackie control mode works the best as vegas will send feedback to the controller, which is not the case when you use the generic remote...

help! I cant get this thing working with Vegas for the life of me....vegas keeps telling me "Your MIDI hardware is not active" what the heck does that mean? THe bcf2000 is right next to me with the green USB light on. I upgraded the firmware to 1.07 on the device and have the software to edit presets and all. WHY is Vegas not recognizing it? The B-control looks good next to me, but... I want to be able to use the darn thing...

frustrated.

Did you select Mackie Control mode on the surface ?

I played with it more last night and got it to work with the generic control after fiddling with a few options, but not with mackin control. I will try that tonight. It was a long day and as you can tell from my previous message.. I was pretty frustrated. Its funny how things so simple seem so impossible when you arent in the right mind. lol. when this happens its just time to get some rest and leave the machines alone for awhile =)

thanks for the suggestions nat.

silly question... Will the faders only work on audio tracks?
Nat wrote on 12/8/2004, 9:01 AM
They will work on both but you have to switch between audio/video mode. I haven't tried this yet using the mackie mode as some buttons are not mapped on the behringer...

Hi nat,

Just sharing my progress since You are the only one I have found who has the b-control and Vegas so far =) I hope you dont mind.

I got the device to work in MC C mode which I guess is for Nuendo and Cubase SX; Whatever I do in Vegas changes on the b-control as you said. IS that all I will be getting? I cant move the controls on the bcf and see the software faders move? Its not liking the input on the controller. I think the firmware pdf file I was reading mentioned that it wont take any inputs while in mackie control emulation mode... that doesnt make sense to me at the moment.

anyway, i'll stop babbling. What mackie emulation mode are you using with Vegas? Can you input via the controller (movements etc)

Any idea where the switch is to change to video mode on the b-control?

thanks for all the replies and putting up with my stupidity; aka lack of b-control knowledge.

Arks00

Below the display the left side second button from the top (encoder groups) , keep this pressed and then press the learn button to toggle between video/audio modes.

you can also download the mackie utility from the behringer site which thens display more information.

Load the utility frist put it at the top/bottom of your screen prior to starting vegas.

There's also a bug PAW and I have been experiencing using the Mackie mode, sometimes, Vegas will stop receiving data from the controller, you can still send data form vegas to the controller but not the other way...

Do you still have this problem PAW ?

To start I put it in LC mode before loading Vegas. I load vegas, then it grabs my first track as my master control. I add an audio and that takes fader 1 and master goes to fader2 and so on. Very cool. I try to move the BCF faders to move the Vegas faders and it wont go. I went into options>preferences> then MIDI and clicked the BCF2000 for MIDI input. It then worked fine for me.

I'm going to try the video/audio switch PAW mentioned later tonight... PAW, what mackie emulation are you in? Logic, Cubase? or another one?

Cubase, I can't rmember now why I settled on that one.

If you are trying to use the envelopes you need to switch automation mode on first.

Try holding down the same encoder group key and then press the edit key. Move a fader for a track and the envelope will appear and respond to the fader.

hit play and move the fader and the envelopes will be created on the fly.

Have fun

I cannot get my BCF2000 Working under Vegas in Mackie Control Mode. It's the mode with "MC C" written on BCF''s display isn't it ?
When I go to the preferences I checked the boxes BCF 2000 in the MIDI tab & in External Control Automation tab I added the mackie control but it says "No Mackie devices detected" and when I click scan it doensn't do anything. My BCF is well recognised by Windows & works well under cubase (in mackie control mode)
What's wrong ?
