Best AVI Template?

I will typically make several smaller clips and later combine them together to assemble a movie for the burn to DVD.

What is the best template to use to preserve video quality when I am saving a clip? I noticed that the NTSC DV Template has video rendering quality as "Good" shouldn't this be "Best"? Am I misunderstanding something? If I need to make a custom template what settings should I use? I would like to keep the quality as close as possible to the original DV Capture.

I am really starting to like this program!

The Good vs. Best setting only deals with how the rendering process resizes images. If all your source material is standard video clips then this setting will make no difference at all. The only time it will make a noticeable difference is if you have large stills on the timeline.

The NTSC DV template is most likely your best choice. This is the same format as the clips you capture from the DV camcorder. If you have sections in which you have done nothing other than trim the clips (no titles, effects, etc.) then the video isn't even rendered; it is merely copied bit-for-bit to the output file. Even when you do have effects or composites to be rendered, SONY's DV codec is just about the best one available. Even after 100 generations of re-rendering the loss in quality is barely noticeable.

Thanks that is very helpful. I will remember that if I save a film with still images.
