Great deal. Too bad last week I used up my nice guy points with my wife on the 160 @ OM. :)

I don't have BestBuy nearby, but I have a Frys about sixty miles away (that's close for me -- I live in the boonies). Here's the ad from the paper today:

Hitachi 160 GB

It's for an Hitachi 160 GB drive, Ultra DMA, 7200 rpm. $84.99 after $60 mail-in rebate.

You had better call them first and check on the deal. We don't have Fry's here in the East, but I have read enough negative things about Fry's to know that I wouldn't drive 60 miles before I was sure. Of course, calling them may also get you an idiot or to be put on "permanent" hold if they are that bad.

I checked the Fry's/Outpost website. That IBM/Hitachi drive deal is on there as well:

http://www.outpost.com/product/3885187

I downloaded the rebate which is right there with the product and it says:
"Purchases must be made between 12/1/03 and 1/18/04".
"All requests must be postmarked on or before 1/31/04".
In other words they are advertising the drive with an EXPIRED rebate.

Hope you didn't drive 60 miles for that one John.

My Best Buy claims to "Never Heard of It" when asked about such a Clearance. On the other hand, they had a $100. deal on a WD 250 which was hard to beat.
