Best DVD burning program?

When I purchased and installed my new DVD burner in my HP, a program called Sonic MyDVD came with it. I used it to produce my first set of DVD Videos, but there is a requirement in the MyDVD program that you must use one of their "Title pages" to start the burning process. These Title pages are really "cute" and I don't want them on my DVDs (and this Title is the first thing you see when starting the DVD). How do I get that Title page off of my video master and/or what is a better, more professional DVD burning program that will let me produce the DVD Video the way I want it, not the way Sonic MyDVD requires it?

Take a look at DVD Complete by Dazzle. For me, it's a lot better than MyDVD.
You can download a trial version from their website.

There are lots to choose from , it will depend on what functionality you want & how much you are willing to pay.

Of the budget ones you may want to consider

DVD Complete by Dazzle about $99
DVD MovieFactory by Ulead about $50

For more functionality go a little higher like

DVD Workshop by Ulead about $300
DVD Impression Pro by Pinnacle about $350
DVDit PE by Sonic Solutions about $600
ReelDVD by Sonic Solutions about $1000

Look them up, weigh up what functions you need/want & look at their user forums at what problems people are having with hardware/software similar to yours.

i have been using dvdit pe for some time now and it is ok. i have read the posts and am trying dazzle dvd complete and dvdworkshop. so far i am impressed with some of the features of the other programs. I wish dvdit had them. i have not made a dvd yet but i will let you know how it comes out.

I have DVD workshop, DVDit PE and ReelDvD. No question that Reel DVD is a top quality program, with the other two being lower in caliber. (I would place DVDit PE above DVD workshop)especially when it comes to A-V sync, and Dolby digital encoding. However, the quality is inversely related to the pricing. I have also found that usability, (ie: playing on set top dvd machines), is inversely related to price. Good Luck

I am having trouble with your use of the word "inversely". Its usual meaning would imply that you are saying the more you pay the lower the quality, and that doesn't sound right. Unless, somehow, that has been your experience.

Sorry, a "bushism". Quality is proportional to cost, as would be expected.

The DVD software products you mention...will any of them take a file as is that has been encoded into MPEG by VV, and not have to re-encode to MPEG all over again?

Ulead's DVD Movie Factory ($50.00) will use VV's MPEG2 files with NO re-encoding.

Dazzle DVD Complete Deluxe will accept MPEG2 from Vegas with no re-encoding.

DVD Complete coupled with a Dazzle Digital Video Creator II gives great results, quickly and easily. Just before Christmas I got a decent contract to put a client's most recent video on videoCD, DVD and VHS. The profit is enough to cover everything we spent on useless DVD programs, capture card and burners. Alternated between Main Concept MPEG2 from the timeline and DVCII brought in as Y/C then asked a few friends who know squat about production to watch the draft. Unanimous that the DVC II clips were better. Maybe Main Concept is tweakable but with the DVC II it takes 45:00 minutes to encode a 45:00 DVCAM show to DVD compliant MPEG 2.



I have and do not use MyDVD, DVDit LE, Pinnacle Impression and some cheapo from Ulead. Only shortfalls with DVD Complete are the limited abilty to change some object properities within the otherwise decent templates and the teeny manual.

The stand alone MainConcept Encoder in its latest version does a brilliant job, and itis about to be improved with a two pass feature.These improvements should show up in the new version of Vegas.It encodes faster than realtime in 2.4 ghz machines, but is very quick in older equipment. I just use Nero to burn.

I've used MovieFactory , DVD Complete , DVDit , ReelDVD & Impression Pro.

I use Impression Pro exclusively now because of the features it offers (2 video angles, 8 audio tracks, 32 subtitle tracks & supports import of externally encoded Dolby audio upto 5.1). A lot of people find it buggy (particularly with Pinnacle's own DV500 system ) but I use it as stand alone product with video edited in Vegas, encoded to MPEG with Canopus Procoder, while Acid Pro does the 5.1 surround pan & encoding to Dolby. All works great no problems.

ReelDVD is pretty solid to work with but you are talking three to four times the price of Impression Pro.

Of the budget ones I've used DVD complete was my favourite. Very easy to use but ultimately doesn't give the quality experience of my current set up. I have to do all the work for my own menu creation but the results are worth it.
