Best DVD Software?

Assuming I output DVD-ready MPG2 files from VideoFactory, which is the best DVD design/writing software? I have ULead DVD Movie Factory Trial, neoDVDplus4, stds like Nero and WinON CD5, and so on, but if picture quality is FIRST PRIORITY, in both video and still, are some of these better than others?

For example, I read that ULead DVD Movie Factory does not re-render DVD-ready MPG2 files, thus suggesting that may other programs do? Is this so?

Also, I'm interested in the slickest, most minimalist kinds of DVD menus etc--not big ugly rounded squares, or too-clever frams, but simple & elegant. Does on DVD Design program have it over others in this department?

Thanks for all help. Great product, great board.

I think most will re-encode if they think your files are not compliant. But you really don't want the programs to do that. You're most likely using a better encoder and are just wasting a lot of time if the DVD aurthoring program re-encodes your files. As for a better program can help much there. I use Movie Factory and find it meets my modest needs. Just wish I could create my own templates.

According to their web site version #2 of DVD Movie Factory will allow modification of templates plus include many more and allow customization too including motion intros for chapters. Problem is there is no trial copy on their site yet and hasn't been for weeks, yet they are selling version two. I don't like to buy a pig in a poke, so I'm waiting to try the sample first. Sounds like a comprehensive upgrade.
