i have a scene that i want to freeze frame a single frame.

then do a color mask of the person and then give stats of that person. hold the stats shot for about 10 seconds and then continue with the video...

Apply a velocity envelope to the video track. Or you could split out a frame, extend that frame to as long as needed.

IMO, it's best to do this with Velociy envelopes, as Serena suggests, as you don't get the artifacts that sometimes creep up with snapshot grabs.
