I think HD is the only one on your list that Vegas can't handle because the frame size of HD is over Vegas's 800x800 limit. hopefully Sonic Foundry will remove or at least greatly increase that limit for VV4.

I'm curious -- do you know if there's such a limitation on working with stills? Or can I load a big still picture and see whatever output? (I hope.)

Hi John,

Vegas can handle any rez input, the issue is output.

Large stills are no problem, and are recommended for using pan/crop to create motion-control type moves on images.

If you plan on doing a lot of panning/zooming of still images import at about three times the output size for best results. VV will automatically set the correct aspect ratio if you select it as a option. If you zoom in on a small image it will degrade somewhat once rendered. By starting with a large source image you should avoid the problem.

Great. Want to hear a stupid mistake? I actually bought a 2D (XY) stage to do this in-camera. Cost me a bundle too but I got a decent price back.

On the up side so far, I was so blown away by the quality of scans of old family prints using a decent flatbed scanner -- it's a complete transformation of the image. That plus my digital camera still impresses me except for shadow detail and color details (same as video).

I look forward to using the feature.
