I notice that some of you are talking about Ritek GO4 media. Which is the best? Does it really matter if it is a GO1, 2, 3, etc? I'm very curious about
this as I'd like to burn on the best media possible.
try a sample pack out. Most bulk web traders have some provision for this.
The more you read, the more you wonder if Verbatim AZO, TY [Taiyo Yoden (sp?)], MAM-E or Ritek G04 are where to spend your money. It seems worthwhile not to choose a brand who manufacture all over the place. However the technology itself isn't always the determining factor. Some batches or "other factories, same tech" can give different results.
One particular plant made great DVD-R ink-jet printables for Verbatim. Yet the Epson ink caused the top layer to react which kept the disc playing but looked awful. OK, in that story Verbatim replaced the discs with their warranty from stock from the other plant.
First and foremost the discs are in their early years of development. Each manufacturer wants a unique selling point. I've personally been happy with Ritek G04, Verbatim for -R and supermarket TDK for +R and +RW. I've been unhappy with 4x memorex and won't ever buy theirs again. However I've known others say they are great.....
There is always an audiophile mentality with media. I'm personally prepared to try each new technology as long as it is at about the UK£1 per disc level.
