Best method for holding a frame mid clip

What are people's methods for holding on the last frame of a clip at the point where you make a split? I really hope there is an easier way than my method.

How I am going about this right now is to make the cut/split where I want, then I have Vegas take a snapshot and add that image back into the timeline for holding where I want.

I tried to use the "Hold Last Frame" option in the context menu but realized early on that is for the entire clip regardless of where you made any cuts or splits in it.

Is there any better way to hold on a single frame or is the above Snapshot method just how you do it?

If you mean by 'holding' creating a freeze frame, then it's easy to do in Vegas Pro. One method is to split the video at frame one (the event is then 1 frame long) and add a velocity envelope set at 0% velocity, extend the event to the length that you want, and then butt it up to the rest of the event.

Another method is to apply the velocity envelope (at 0% velocity) to the entire video event and then add 2 nodes - one frame apart - at the point on the velocity envelope line where you want to resume 100% velocity. R click on the 2nd node and from the menu that opens select 'Set to Normal Velocity'.

If you meant something other than freeze framing, please explain what you mean by 'holding'.

@Dexcon Thanks, that is exactly what I meant by holding. Glad that I can now stop generating all of these extra png files now of single frames

Have you tried Freeze frame at cursor ?
