Up until now, I have been referencing my vision on an external Sony 51cm CRT TV and it has been good for seeing how my finished product will look. Obviously, my project settings are optimised for TV viewing, but I am now wondering.......
In a world of LCD TVs and the like, how do I get my project to look great, in regards to interlacing, on both LCD and CRT?

How do commercial film makers do it, as obviously, no one can say how the consumer will view their product, so how can I optimise my project for both?

Second question answered first. The answer is that a colorist goes through the (transferred from film) video, a scene at a time (and sometimes shot by shot), and optimizes it.

Ideally, you do separate versions for each delivery medium as there is no "one size fits all" solution.
BTW, a buddy at a local post house does exactly this when preparing video clips for the different mediums (web, large screen projection, etc.) his clients want :-(
