Best Project Settings

A couple of questions if I may concerning the best project settings using VMS HD Platinum 10 which, after completion, will end up on a DVD. My location is Europe so this will be PAL.

99% of the events on the timeline will be shot using a helmet camera set at 1280 x 720 25p. The remaining events will be from another camera where I have the choice of 3840 x 2160, 30p or 1920 x 1080, 30p. Unfortunately with this second camera 30p is fixed so I am unable to match the 25p of the first camera. Bearing in mind that the entire thing will be burnt to DVD what would be the best project settings to use.

For one of the clips (using the 30p camera) I would like to have part of it projected at 3 times normal speed. I know how to cut an event so that I can present the first part of it at normal speed but am uncertain of how to achieve the speeded up effect so advice on this is also requested especially if it also effects the recommended project settings.

Finally, as I mentioned cutting an event I am at a loss as to play the event frame by frame so that I can cut it exactly where I want. This operation is quite straight forward in Windows Live Movie Maker but either it isn't quite so straight forward in VMS or I'm missing it which is more than likely LOL.

Any advice of course is much appreciated. Thanks.

Your settings should be MainConcept MPEG-2 PAL DVD. The bitrate setting depends upon the length of the final video. I've rendered nearly 2 hours with a bitrate of 4.7Mb/s and the quality was quite acceptable. Don't worry about the fps, Vegas will sort that out very well. I think also that Vegas will cope with the different resolutions Ok. Maybe others in the forum are better qualified than I am to answer that. I've rendered both PAL and NTSC clips on the same timeline with no problem.
To speed up or slow down a clip (event), hold down the Ctrl key and drag the end of the clip. To the right slows it down, to the left speeds it up. You'll see a zigzag line on the clip showing that the speed has been altered.
To advance frame by frame just hold the Alt key down whilst pressing the right or left cursor key.
