Best Project Settings for Short HD Videos

Suggestions Wanted.

I make a lot of short, 1 minute or less, videos using HD from my Canon HF100, HD still images that I often animate, and title animations from BlufTitler. I want to make the final render fill out the screen of the typical new HDTV (16:9) in as high a resolution as possible/practical. I will be showing the final videos via computers hooked up to HDTVs and want to know which final format works best such as WMV, AVI, etc. and at what resolution should I render? The options in the project settings and final rendering settings are a bit bewildering and simply too plentiful to the novice and I would like to know what more experienced people are using. Hopefully there is a simple setting that works well for my intent.

Thanks.

Do not use WMV as it tends to give some slightly but noticeable pale colours in the final result because the WMV codec seems to 'expect' Computer RGB.

Best result as you are having very short videos will probably be uncompressed AVI.

BUT: in order to achieve a 110 percent result you must do some test - i.e. on my 50 inch 1366 x 768 Plasma I must render to and output 1360 (null) x 768 from the attached PC to get the very best picture.
