BEST render settings? Hi8 to DVD Mpeg2

Under a time crunch here so I do not have time to experiment and read gobs of manuals on this first fun project.

I have "decent" Hi8 Video captured with a Canopus ADVC1394 and I want to render out of Vegas into DVD Architect with as few conversions as possible.

My editing in Vegas 4 is done - do I render as GOOD BEST DRAFT - do I even change this setting under TEMPLATE?

Do I use MainConcept Mpeg2?

I will just be needing stereo sound on this one - not 5.1.

Do I create sound and video into one file while doing this?
Is it better to create a video and audio file apart and how would I combine these?

I am looking for the BEST alternative with what I have, Vegas 4 and DVD Architect.

Use MainConcept MPEG2, select the template settings for the DVD Architect format that's appropriate for you. Good and Best is pretty much up to you. if you've got the room, go for Best.

Then render.

Once you've rendered the MPG file, go back and render the AC3 - select the AC3 output and use the stereo template.

You will have 2 seperate files; if they have the same filename (and in the same directory), when you pull the mpeg file into DVDA, the AC3 file will come in automatically.

Create whatever menu (if any) you want in DVDA, click Make DVD.

Beautiful - will try that now.

I was just telling it Main Concept - Should I be telling it Main Concept and then under template FOR DVD ARCHITECT NTSC video Stream? and letting it grab the audio with the video - I noticed it would then compress audio later under DVD Architect.

So basically telling to do the video only is better than

Hmm- when I do it that way - my sound skips and the video gets bent edges here and there?

When I just tell it MainConcept MPEG2 template default and it does the video and audio everything is fine?

Whats up?

How are you looking at the result? I've found that DVDA sometimes has problems with preview mode, but the produced DVD (or even the raw VOB/IFO files if I don't actually burn) work fine.

Your totally right. I did a quick test and they do indeed render perfectly.

Excellent - doing the whole project as you said - working great.

Thanks.
