Best rendering mode/ settings for 16:9

I have a large number of 16:9 format DV movies to convert to DVD and just purchased V4. I'm not sure whether to choose any custom settings when I pick the MPEG-2 setting for rendering. On the custom/ video tab, there is an aspect ratio setting -- but even if I choose 16:9, the DVD Architect program indicates that it has to reoptimize the project when I burn to DVD. I'm trying to avoid the reoptimization to keep quality high. I placed the quality slider on 31. What's the best "recipe" for dealing with 16:9 ?? Thank-you for your assitance !

Have you downloaded and installed the latest DVD Architect update, which is 1.0c? BTW you should also update to Vegas 4.0c while you're at it. You can get to the updates easily from Support | Updates at the top of this web page.

Most likely this problem you're seeing was fixed in DVDA version 1.0a, this fix will also be included with 1.0c. Here's an excerpt from the release notes:

- A bug has been fixed that always forced recompression of media with a 16:9 aspect ratio; 16:9 media files will be recompressed only when they are not in a supported format.

Are you also selecting the "DVD Architect (NTSC/PAL) Widescreen video stream" template in the box below the output file format selection box?

DVD-A will attempt to re-encode MPEG file if it was not saved specifically in the format it expects (i.e. MPEG video instead of DVD-A video)

I followed your suggestion and updated to DVDA 1.0c; Vegas installed as the 4.0c version. Which is the best choice for the actual rendering? I notd that the AVI files are substantially larger than the mpg files, but I don't see much difference in the artifacting. I have included the choices I selected at: http://www.pennynet.org/sf/mpjsettings.mov

Another forum member had suggested the DVD architect widescreen template -- but that template doesn't include sound. Please advise.

I followed another user's suggestion and updated to DVDA 1.0c; Vegas installed as the 4.0c version. I tried the setting you suggested -- DVD architect widescreen template, but noted that it doesn't include a sound track. I have included the mpg choices I selected at: http://www.pennynet.org/sf/mpjsettings.mov Please clarify.
