Best Rendering settings for movie studio 12

Hi,
Im hoping you can help me. I just upgraded from 8 to 12 and i want to render a 30 minute video i just edited in HD. I know how i did it with 8 but i was never happy with the quality and hoping i can do better with 12.
With 8 i would render to avi then use windows encoder to render to wmv. Im happy to do that again although would love to render just once in Sony movie studio.
The video will be downloaded so also would like to make sure its not a huge file. I need it to be 1280x720 hd.
So can someone tell me the best settings please?
Thank you so much!

WMV is not universally playable.
Either of the methods described here will do a wonderful job.
Sorry it's a bit dated but you can figure it out.

Thank you so much I appreciate it but I have been doing it in WMV for some time now and no one who has downloaded has had any issues.I'd prefer to keep it in that format. Do you have a video on how to render videos in WMV for downloads?

No, and I have no plans to produce one, but Windows Movie Maker seems to be your bff here.

How could you possibly know that
They don't complain because they know better than to download your video.

MP4 / AVC is universally playable on Windows, Mac, Linux, as well as in ffmpeg and Flash. It doesn't get better than that in this century.

WMV is natively supported only in Windows, so I simply don't use it for web delivery.

Thanks again for the reply. I dont handle my download site and the guy who does has always told me to WMV. Ill check with him but in the meantime id like to see if anyone can tell me how to do it in WMV just in case i decide to stick with it. Thank you for your time.

Ok so i heard from the guy who hosts my videos. Apparently everyone has moved on from wmv and neglected to tell me:) I feel like theres a party and i never got my invite.
So he recommends h.264
Any tips for using that format?

"

The directions for using "that format" are intricately detailed in the video tutorial above.

AVC is h.264.
It can be wrapped as MP4, MOV, or FLV.
The world changed when Flash 10 was released, . . . . five years ago.

So I've made the same suggestion a third time.

Best of luck!
