Best set up for Divx encoding?

Hello
I have Divx 5.1 codec. I've tried encoding several videos in Divx from Vegas.
But the results I got are really crappy... dissapointing... I see other videos (downloaded from tne internet) encoded in Divx that have really good quality.
I tried also encoding in Mpeg1 for VCD and the quality was better by far.
So my question is...
Does anybody know how to set up the parameters to encode in Divx with some reasonable good quality from Vegas?

I would suggest rendeing your .avi DV/uncompressed etc.... and then use virtual dub to encode Divx. Vegas can do it but if you are unhappy with the quality, give VDub a shot.

DV to DiVX will give crappy results much of the time ... settings depend so much on your content, what planned bit rate, resolution , frame rate and other factors that there is no one size fits all answer ..
