Best template for .mov?

Trying to make a 5 minute video into a format for a Mac user by rendering from avi to mov. I'd assumed there's a way to do this that involves nothing more than the wrapper being changed but using the default template it
a) takes ages to render
b) looks horrid, like serious color space conversion errors.
Anyone have any clues?

MacBob.

MacBob, check with Spot about "mov" in vegas, vegas does not render "mov" very well, at less in my experience. I have tried various template with marginal results. best with 3mb stream, mpeg4 or techsmith encoder options in "custom" template.

Better get Procoder, that will also save you time if you are doing a lot of different renders. With a few clicks you can come back to finished renders in QT, WM9, Real, MPEG etc. (all of them), more convenient than the network render in V5. Good quality too.

I paid $280 for Procoder 2.0 on eBay (from an authorized dealer per site). Current list is $499, even though some resellers still show the old $699 list.

I'm only doing one render of 5 minutes of material and charging the client $50, hard to justify Procoder on that basis.
Bob,
