Currently I'm using a trial version of Vegas Pro 8, and have found it to be a great deal better than Premiere Pro when dealing with VOB files renamed as MPG... as well as being much more intuitive in general. I'm planning to buy it when the trial period is over. However, I still run into a file now and then that neither program seems to be able to open without audio sync problems (generally, the video portion seems to run too fast, and ends before the audio).

So, I'm just looking for a few suggestions from the forums on a few programs to choose from that are good for converting VOB or MPG files to DV-AVI. I'm not only looking for freeware solutions.
