Best way to encode EX1 footage to Flash

MomentsVideos wrote on 4/11/2008, 10:37 AM
I have shot a number of weddings using the new Sony EX1 camera.

The clips are 1440*1080*50i and are imported to Vegas as MXF files.

What steps should I take to encode some clips to FLV for playback on my website.

From Vegas, what to I render to? I am using Flash MX to create the FLV file but I am not sure what is the best workflow from Vegas, render to AVI? WMV? MT2?

All help appreciated.

Render to Quicktime and open in Adobe Flash or a generic coder.

Thanks for your reply.

Another question, considering I am editing HDV footage (1440*1080*50i), what quicktime setting would you output to, what resolution, quality setting etc?

Also, my target FLV would be 450K or 500K bitrate and a resolution of around 480*360.

Would you scale on the quicktime output or scale in the Flash conversion?

Check with Youtube. The settings they recommend are good. Its too late and I'm on Claret bottle #2 to remember my settings. Also EXPERIMENT because your subject matter and its length is a factor.
