best way to move a clip?

i apologize in advance for what may be an elementary question.

what is the best way to move a clip in front of another clip? let's say i have two clips on the timeline. and i want to switch their order (video and audio). i wish i could just drag the one clip in front of the other clip and have the other clip slide down. but it doesn't seem to work like that. i end up dragging one clip to a different track, dragging the other clip down and then dragging the first clip back to where it should go.

i'd love to know an easier way!

Have you tried this?

With ripple edit enabled, select the second clip and cut it (Cntrl+X), then position the timeline cursor at the beginning of the first clip and paste (Cntrl+V). That should shove the first clip down to make room for the first.

Note, however, that, if the timeline cursor isn't at the very beginning of the clip, it will cut the clip at the point where it's positioned and paste your second clip between the two halves.
