Doing a video I have to output to Beta. DV in, DV out through Sony media converter to Beta deck. Any idea what kind of quality I am to expect ? This is going to be displayed on a huge screen at an awards deal.
Worth doing, or do I go rent an Avid suite ?
Absolutely worth doing! If you feel like investing a little further there are some DV-component converters, but we've been able to get very good picture and sound onto SPBeta from Vegas, using the Sony DVMCDA2 composite converter and recording onto our in-house UVW/PVW/BVWs.
Please let us know your own opinion on image and sound quality once you get it out to SP-
I don't know about the video. (not my area) But the audio should sound fine. Use the AFM tracks (3&4) if you have a BVW machines available. But the linar tracks 1&2 should still sound acceptible. If you do have a BVW machine, record to all,1&2 and 3&4 so it will be playable on Betacam decks without the AFM tracks.
I got mixed up.. Sorry for any confusion. The PVW and P-series VTRs, have the AFM audio tracks. However there are some BVW machines around that have an add on AFM upgrade....
