better playback rate

I hope this is a simple question - with a simple answer.

My machine -
8GB RAM
Intel core I7 processor
512 mb ati Radeon HD 4670

Thought this would give me smoother playback rates in preview windows - (we do add lots of effects) - but the playback rate doesn't seem that great - any suggestions?

Seems to be a problem in Version 9, Hopefully they will address this issue in the next update...My i7 Core drags horribly in the preview window as well...makes multi camera editing a nightmare.....

make sure you've turned off 'preview auto playback' - i found this only compounded the awful playback rate.

Right click the preview window...you will find it there.
