better way to adjust audio channels?

Is there a better way of doing this using Vegas 5?
I used a directional mic & the internal mic on my camera and needed to change the volume on one channel after recording.
I put the audio file in Vegas two times in two different tracks and set the channel on the first track to left only with the pan 100% to the left and set the other track to right only with the pan 100% to the right. Then I adjusted the volume for the channel as needed. I assume that FX could be applied to one channel this way also.
Thanks,

YOu can also grab the top of the audio tracks and drag down after you see the cursor turn to a hand. You've got the right thing happening here though...
However, you can also right click the audio file and choose LEFT ONLY or RIGHT ONLY and then not worry about the panning, unless you want a stereo mix. You'll keep your tracks separate, but mono.
