Try placing an unmasked copy of your clip below your masked clip, then use the Track Composite level to fade the masked clip in and out.

Easier than that, use the opacity setting of the mask in the pan crop dialog...

yes thank you. It was just embarassing to see what I was looking for after having looked for it and looked right at it with out noticiing it.

I asked myself the same question yesterday. I wanted to do some organic pips like the spicefilters and found out about the opacity setting... Really useful !
