Big Brother

Where the heck is 'Big Brother' when you need him? If this is the 'Offical VMS Forum', then where the heck is the 'official'??? There are a lot of people with a lot of technical issues regarding this software. Why aren't the developers and engineers here helping everyone?? Who is 'Sticky' (forumadmin)? Does he ever help? It just seems to me that otherwise there is a lot of guessing and conjecture on everyones part regarding this software.. Why can't we get the real technical answers from the technicians, and have this boards members help answer some of the less technical issues?? I guess I'm just frustrated that this stuff has to be so frustrating for so many, when one developer could easily answer some of the more difficult questions posed here. Hope to get an answer. Cin
PS. Happy 4th of July to everyone :)

Well said. Before I decided to buy VMS a few days ago, I had been around the Premiere and Pinnacle forums. Guess what. Developers where there, discussing issues. I am not talking about offering tech support (this is not their job), but they were definitely visible to the community and were discussing about features and what's needed and what's not etc.

You do see a few of the developers in the "pro" forums here, most often in the ACID forum. It's very rare that they come into the "studio" forums. I can't really blame them either. They're paid to program. If they're in here it's on their own time and they're doing it because they like the software, not because it's their job.

There are customer support options where you get one-on-one interaction with the technical support staff. It's free for installation issues, and often for other issues for the first 60 days, counting from your first support call. Click on the "Support" menu at the top of the page for details.

I would immediately fire the product manager who did not have a person reading every single message in these forums every day, and compiling a list of issues to be looked into. What better place to get actual, real-life information on the problems people are having with their software than here? And there are many more people than just developers on a team. Sure, you don't want developers in here, their communication skills rank near the bottom of the list :-)

Hi Kelly,
I guess I would have to change their job description then. They are getting paid good money to develop this software, and we are paying good money to buy it. Sorry, but my job doesn't end at 5:00p.m., it ends when I have finished my job, which means I have helped everyone that needs help. Look at you. How many posts have you replied to (I believe thousands), how many people have you helped in person and in these forums (hundreds I believe)? Is it 'your job'? No. So if you had developed this software, wouldn't you just out of pride of workmanship want to see that it was user friendly, useable, understandable, and that it added, not detracted from peoples lives? I believe you would, and so would most people in this forum. Take care, and thanks for all that you do. Cin

Of course somebody from Madison read these posts. All of them.

Of course they do care. This is an 1A opportunity to hear about the users experience with their software.

Of course they do not mix up in the discussions. There are enough people who write to this forum, -kind of- that they would rather buy some other product - and who are prepared to waste the developers time discussing endlessly over absolutely nothing -or less.
And beeing a known Vegas official you can not just skip the topic.

Of course this is a Salute to all the Great People who have given us fantastic Vegas.
