big render fails. Can't create file

I've been trying to create an uncompressed quicktime (at the request of a post house) of an 82 minute HD project. The render looks like it finishes and as it trys to wrap things up, ie as it is converting from a tmp file to an mov file, I finally get an error message that says "Error, unable to create file...". I've done some searching on this error and it seems to point to an out of disk space error, but I seem to have enough space. I was watching the folder that I was rendering to and before it started trying to write the new file, the temp file was about 160 gb. I had started with a full terabyte of space, so I thought I'd have enough space. I also had the same problem trying to render an avid dnxhd 220 file, which should be a bit smaller than an uncompressed file and the same thing happened. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
