Here's a link to a free mp3 download of the song:
http://www.stingsandthings.com/home/stings/

I say it's a free download because the site says so -- but "Happy Birthday" is technically one of those surprisingly copyrighted songs that everyone assumes isn't. (You'll even see it credited when used in movies!)

I don't think anyone will make a big deal if it's for personal use but, if you're going to use your piece to make money, you may want to contact the Harry Fox Agency and see what a small audience, single use license would cost.

Thank You.
It is for video of daughter's 16th Birthday Party. I too, did not think that this tune would be copyrighted.

i think the words are copyrighted but not the tune itself. so a midi or mp3 of the song without the words is legally free.

Try http://www.audiosparx.com
You'll have to register. After registering you can search for "Happy Birthday" and find several different versions. Prices for licenses vary but are usually cheap. The one I used was about $5.00.

That's interesting I recently purchased Screenblast movie studio video editing software and I am encountering problems. When I press the playback button a message window appears telling me that an error has occurred. It says that "an error occurred while starting playback." It says that "the device specified is in use." It has two button options on the bottom of the window: OK and Details>>. I click on Details>> and it says that the "playback device Microsoft Sound Mapper is in use by another application." I then opened up my Windows Task Manager to see what other applications were running. Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0 is the only application running. I then searched my computer for Microsoft Sound Mapper. This search returned no results. Any help would be appreciated.
