Bit Rate & Faulty DVD Playback...

Has any one experienced sporadic playback after adjusting the default bit rate under the "optimize" option when burning a DVD? Is there a prefered Bir Rate that makes DVD's playable on most consumer DVD Players.

How do we get more that 1:20 on a DVD? What will allow me to burn a 2 hr DVD playable on most consumer players?

Your comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Are you bringing an MPEG2 into DVD Architect or an AVI? If it's an AVI, I believe that the Fit-to-Disc will automatically set the best bit rate. If MPEG2, I'd recommend doing the encode in Vegas instead of in DVD Architect, if that's feasible. Bringing an MPEG2 into DVDA and then asking it to use a different bit-rate is going to take a long time and probably lower your video's quality.

That said, use a bitrate calculator to determine the best bitrate. Add a little extra time to compsensate for menus and good measure. And, especially if you're going to use over 1 hour, use Variable Bit Rate. (Vegas has that option. Some have said that DVDA uses VBR, also, but you don't have much control over it if it does.)
